Playing The Long Game Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all training days and workshops organised by Playing The Long Game. Please read them carefully before booking.
1. Who We Are
We are Playing The Long Game, a UK-based coaching company organising specialist coaching and training events for runners preparing for long-distance running events, such as the Winter and Summer Spine Races.
You can contact us anytime at damian_hall@hotmail.com
2. What You’re Booking
You are booking a place on a professionally led, training weekend, which includes:
Two nights’ accommodation (shared, single-sex dorms)
Expert workshops and presentations
Two group runs on the Pennine Way
Evening meals on Friday and Saturday
Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday
Informal access to our coaching team throughout the weekend
Full details of each event are on our website.
3. Pricing & Payments
A non-refundable deposit of £150 is required to secure your place.
The full price is £495 and must be paid at least 4 weeks before the weekend.
After full payment, your place is non-refundable, but may be transferred to another person with our approval up to two weeks before the training weekend.
If you don’t pay the remaining balance on time, we may offer your place to someone else.
4. Transfers & Cancellations
We don’t offer refunds unless we cancel the event ourselves.
If you can't attend, you may transfer your place to another person with our permission up to two weeks before the training weekend – just get in touch to arrange that.
If you are injured or unable to run, you’re still very welcome to attend the workshops and social parts of the weekend. There’s a lot to gain even without the running.
5. Minimum Numbers & Cancellation by Us
We need a minimum number of attendees to make the weekend viable. If that number isn’t reached, we may cancel and offer you a full refund or the chance to transfer to a future event.
We may also cancel for reasons outside our control (such as extreme weather). We’ll always do our best to offer alternatives, but we’re not liable for travel or accommodation costs you've booked separately. We advise you take out your own insurance to cover this.
6. What You Agree To
By booking, you confirm that:
You’re at least 18 years old.
You’re fit and able to participate in the weekend (or have told us otherwise).
You accept the risks involved in trail running and understand that weather, terrain and conditions can be challenging.
You will follow safety instructions from our team and respect the environment and fellow participants.
You have your own appropriate insurance for cancellation, injury, and personal belongings (recommended but not required).
7. Kit & Fitness
You’ll be sent a mandatory kit list in advance. It’s your responsibility to bring what’s required.
You’ll need to be able to run/hike at a pace of around 3–4mph over mixed terrain for up to 20 miles.
Nobody gets left behind — our team will make sure the weekend works for different experience levels.
8. Health & Safety
You must tell us about any medical conditions or allergies when booking, including asthma.
If you’re unwell or injured, let us know before or during the weekend.
9. Use of Photos and Feedback
We may take photos or collect feedback during the weekend to help others understand what we offer.
By attending, you’re happy for us to use these, unless you tell us otherwise in advance.
10. Legal Bits
These terms are governed by English law.
Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.
Our liability to you is limited to the cost of your booking, unless the law says otherwise.
