The father of two is very concerned about our climate and ecological emergency.
Damian is a founding member of The Green Runners (who now have 1,000+ members and were nominated for a 2023 BBC Green Sport Award).
He’s also a member of Champions 4 Earth and EcoAthletes, and an ambassador for Protect Our Winters UK, with whom he’s completed a Carbon Literacy Course.
He regularly joins protests with Extinction Rebellion, Just Stop Oil and Champions 4 Earth, uses record attempts and race performances to draw attention to the cause, and bangs on about this stuff annoyingly on social media (one of his Green Runners pledges).
The low-carbon athlete eats a vegan diet, has only flown once for running in four years and has pledged not to run UTMB Mont-Blanc again while it has a high-carbon, headline sponsor.
His award-nominated book, We Can’t Run Away From This (Vertebrate Publishing, 2022), examines running’s footprint on the planet.
